It was a bit of a round trip to get across to Traralgon, had to head back towards Melbourne to get across the mountains then head back out again. Just a few hours drive, so not too bad. The venue was Victory Park which has a permanent stage known as the Sound Shell. It was an alcohol free, family event which was great for a change, but disappointed a few who had turned up with full eskies. They emptied them while they were in line waiting. I believe some got pass outs and headed to the pub when Adam and Shannon were on, especially when the whole of Traralgon had a black out during Shannon’s set. Jimmy appeared at the side of the stage laughing and stirring Shannon. Shannon provided us with a laugh doing a bit of a dance before he left the stage whilst a generator was brought in. It only took about 20-30 minutes and Shannon came out and signed some autographs down the front. That kept his fans happy. Before long we were back on track and Shannon finished his set with Jimmy’s band watching on from the side.
Luckily there was no repeat during Jimmy’s performance, all went smoothly. Only one little mishap - Davey went for a bit of a slip. No damage done though, lucky! (for the guitar that is) He is having too much fun and there were lots of windmill arms and scissor kicks. Adam joined Jimmy in the encore, Khe Sanh - he got to sing a verse. He was beside himself - again!!!
What a difference an alcohol free gig makes. Much easier to walk around when the gig is over.
