Over the border and onto Mildura, about a two hour drive. Gol Gol Hotel, across the river and into NSW, was the venue for the last gig for the Red Hot Summer Tour. It was the hottest day of the tour, 49 degrees!! Due to the heat they put Adam, Shannon and Jimmy on later in the day. Gates still opened at the same time and a local band was brought in to fill the gap. The poor guys had to keep moving their chairs to keep out of the sun. Once again the mist tent was set up and once again we spent the day in there. Along the front of the stage fans were set up. One was blowing mist at us; it was refreshing but a bit annoying when Jimmy was on, blowing water and hair across one side of my face. But at least we were not dying of heat exhaustion. To be honest the heat didn't bother me much at all. I love the sun!!
There were a few Adam fans out and about today, singing loudly again. Adam's set didn't vary much throughout the tour, Shannon's didn't much either but he did have us guessing as to whether he would climb the speaker boxes or jump off the stage for What About Me. During his set tonight, Jimmy was side of stage with Jackie, bopping along. He was in a great mood and was enjoying himself. There were a lot of kids in the crowd and Jimmy organised to have them put inside the barrier. They were excited and kept running up to the stage to touch Shannon. Don't reckon Jimmy thought they would stay there and doing the same for him. But they did and it was doing Jimmy's back in having to bend down all the time. He gave up in the end; Macca came out and gave them all glow sticks to wave. Great!! Not sure if those in there wearing a bra qualified as being kids! For the last night Shannon came out with Jimmy and Adam for Khe Sanh. Macca even got up tonight and joined in with Mahalia and Shauna for a bit of backing vocals. Lots of laughs, hugs and fun happening up there. Shame it had to end. It was another awesome night. |
