January 23rd 2011 .... LA TROBE EVENTS GROUND, MORWELL - VIC

It was another warm, sunny day at La Trobe Events Ground in Morwell. But there was plenty of shade down at the front of stage. First on today were The McClymonts - very country and very much not my scene. I found them a strange addition to the line up. Today’s gig was so much better than yesterday in Ballarat. Thirsty Merc had quite a few fans here and Rai played right up to them. Noiseworks were heaps better and the guys were having a bit of a laugh together. One of the crew had his young kids side of stage and Jon went over and brought them onto the stage - one with a guitar and one with a tambourine. Jon was great with them - “the future of our world, look out Stuart Fraser!”
When Jimmy came on the eldest helped dad bring Jimmy’s guitar onto stage when he needed it. Both came on for Khe Sanh - the older one with Charlie on guitar, very good, he has all the right moves. The younger one stood with Danny, very cool on tambourine!
Jimmy was brilliant tonight too, as were the band. There was a much better vibe up on stage and much more atmosphere in the crowd. They were all there for a good time and to enjoy the music, no pushing, no shoving at all. But there was lots of singing and lots of fun.
An awesome gig indeed!

This was the last gig for this part of the Red Hot Summer Tour. Noiseworks had some gigs on their own as did Jimmy. But they will all be back for a few more gigs on the awesome Red Hot Summer Tour!!
